Assistance for the Legal Requirements? “At your service!”

We are capable in offering full facilitation with all necessary paperwork from day one. Just because legal requirements differ depending on where you come from, we are at your service to advise you on what kind of documents you actually need in order to get married in Skopelos. This is a point of absolute importance about which you, beyond any doubt, need to consult us (Complimentary service).

Rest assured that it is very common for foreign citizens to marry in Skopelos and the marriage will be perfectly legal at your country. However, according to Hellenic law, you must meet the following legal requirements:

Civil weddings:

 Wedding Application.

Wedding Ceremony Application (in case venue is the Town Hall).

Bride`s and groom`s full birth certificates with Apostille Seal, translated in Greek and authenticated be a Greek Consulate. (Full Birth Certificates - must include your parents details).

Letter of NO IMPEDIMENT to marriage for both bride and groom with Apostille Seal and translated in Greek. This document confirms that you are free to marry and is available from your local registrar.

Photocopies of your photography page of your passports.

Must be certifying by a solicitor. (Apostille Seal not required).

Legal documentation of name change (if applicable to your case). Deed Poll certificate or Statutory Declaration. Please note this includes divorcees who have reverted back to the maiden name.

Divorced Certificates if there is any (if applicable to your case. Translated in Greek).

Widow/widower certificates. (if applicable to your case. Translated in Greek).

Note: Attach the Apostille Seal at the back of each of the applicable documents - it is not acceptable to authenticate all your papers with only one Apostille Seal. Each paper needs a separate Apostille Seal.

 Bride`s and groom`s passports.

 Government Tax 30€-40€ per person.

2 witnesses with their passports (if not available, we happily can provide our team members as a complimentary service).

No publication of your wedding at a local newspaper as Skopelos Town is inhabited by fewer  than 5.000 inhabitants.

So, dear Bride and Groom to be, let’s organize together your agenda for a dream wedding in    Skopelos, step by step.

Decide the type of wedding ceremony (civil, religious, symbolic, etc).

Select your wedding date as soon as possible. Skopelos has an incremented demand for romantic weddings after the enormous success of the “Mamma Mia” film.

Email us the complete contact form found in the “contact us” field. We shall make a preliminary reservation. Our free of charge consultation will help you make the right  decisions about all matters that puzzle you. It is preferable that you set as wedding day,  a day in the middle of your stay, because this way your guests will have plenty of time to arrive and you  will have time afterwards to enjoy your honeymoon.

♣ We’ll revert to you with the best overtures, ideas and offers. There is no obligation or payment required from you until you are ready to confirm your  booking.

If you agree with the proposed costs, you will be sent a booking deposit invoice. Once you submit booking deposit via secure bank transfer or CC charge, we will start the final booking process. Please note that this deposit is non-refundable. This non refundable booking deposit is deducted from your final wedding bill and is not a separate expense. The deposit ensures you   that your date, celebrant and ceremony venue are reserved.

Seeing that deposit is received, we will confirm your wedding date and send you a contract.  This will be accompanied by: Confirmation of your wedding booking, a detailed record of the necessary current Hellenic legal documentation requirements and final payment and legal documents due dates. Once we receive the signed contract, I’ll contact you in person. We’ll help you out design your own unique wedding concept, help you choose the venue, the decoration, the music, the lodgings, and finalize all the details.

Start the paperwork requirements. The documentation for each wedding varies according to the Bride’s and Groom’s religion and nationality.

Three months before your wedding day, you start the issuing of the applicable documents. Please remember the wedding documents – according to the Hellenic law - cannot be dated older than 3 months from the day of your wedding date.

All documents that will submit us, will be held for ever by our Piece of Justice so, please bear this in mind should you need your own copies.

You email or fax us photocopies of the applicable, above documentation, no later than 30 days prior to your wedding date.

After this stage, it’s time for you to sit back and relax!

Hints & Tips:

All your documents will remain at the Local Registry Office and the Piece of Justice.

Providing your legal documents have been checked and everything is in order, there is no law that states you must be on the Island for a certain numbers of days. However we do recommend you arrive minimum of three full days prior to your wedding day.

The documents required to be officially translated in Greek language must be authorized by the Greek Consulate in issuing country, or by a Greek lawyer translator, with an authentication by the Bar Association (Lawyer Society).

Only original or certified copies are accepted for the Apostille Seal (photo copies of any documents are not accepted).

♣ Apostille Seal for UK Residents – The necessary documents (above) must be legalized by the Foreign Office in Milton Keynes, UK. Apostille Seal - cost per document £30.00.

Citizens of countries outside the European Union need an extra document from their country's embassy in Athens, to certify that they are free to marry and this document should be certified (and translated if it is issued in Greek) by the Greek Ministry Foreign Affairs in Athens.

In case civil wedding ceremony takes place at  The Town Hall, the Municipality charges 150€. In case civil wedding ceremony takes place in a venue other than The Town Hall, the Municipality charges 300€.

All your legal paperwork will be fully explained by a step by step procedure within your wedding contract with our company.
